GEORGE SAMUEL PENTECOST
Of English origin, the variant spellings of the Pentecost name
include Penticost, and Pentacost. All three forms are found in
documents that relate to George Samuel Pentecost, after his arrival in
Texas in 1824.
The present day descendants can easily trace their lineage from
him and his wife Martha Ellen Denley; however, nothing is known about
her parents.
Family stories about the Pentecost before they came to Texas did
not survive the test of time. Research has revealed U.S. Census,
1810/16 in Mississippi Territory list GEORGE SAMUEL PENTECOST, also
that one George S.Pentecost purchased public land in 1816 in Green
Cty, Mississippi Territory. In 1816 that territory included all of the
area now comprising the states of Mississippi and Alabama.

Arrived from South Carolina June 1777. 100 acres by family right, 100acres bount land on Coles Creek.
