Isaac Jackson, Sr.
Isaac Jackson, Sr. was born in 1771. The name of his first wife is
unknown; however, they had six children, five sons and one daughter.
Henry jackson was born in 1797 and Isaac Jackson, Jr., was born in
1802. Other children were James, John, Job and Nancy Jackson.
In 1821, Isaac Jackson, Sr., at the age of fifty, married a widow,
Elizabeth Perkins, also fifty years of age.
On Aug. 5, 1824, Isaac was granted a league of land from the Mexican
Gov., as one of Austin's OLD THREE HUNDRED Colonist. The league was
bounded by the land of Jered E. Groce and James E. Whitesides, on the
east side of the Brazoos River, opposite the town of Washington in
Grimes Co.
In 1836 at the age of sixty-five, Isaac was in the military service in
the Battle of San Jacinto. He was wounded and permanently disabled in
this battle and was given another league of land for his services.
This grant was in Caldwell Co., but Isaac never saw it.
In 1837, Isaac, Sr., sold three-fourths of the Grimes Co. league to
John W. Wall for five thousand dollars.
Isaac jackson, Sr., died in 1846-47, and was buried on or near his
labd in Grimes Co.
In 1861, Isaac Jackson, Jr., came to Caldwell Co. In 1877, he claimed
one half of the league given to his father, Isaac Jackson, Sr.
Although he lived for twelve years after receiving the land for his
services to his country, Isaac, sr., never saw it, but it was passed
over to his heirs.
