From tombstone in Paul's Graveyard, Chester County, South Carolina
This graveyard is located on the right of the road from Richburg to
Rossville on the crest of a small knoll. The histoian, Daniel Green
Stinson, says "more Covenanters are buried here than any place in
South." The Historic Sites Survey - Chester County prepared by the
Catawba Regional Planning Council, June 1976, locates the cemetery
about 3.75 miles souh of Richburg on State Hwy 901 (page 86).
John Guthrie's tombstone is inscribed:
Mr. JOHN GUTHRIE/Died 17 October 1820/aged 29 years
also in this same grave
Mr. JOHN BELL/Grandfather of Mr. John Guthrie/Died 28 September
1774/aged 77 years
