OCCUPATION: Palmer was a grocer in Owasso, Oklahoma from 1931 to 1942.
After
moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma, he worked in grocery stores there
until his
retirement. According to his brother, Bolton, he owned a dry cleaning
business
in Georgetown, Texas, before he entered the Army in 1917, when World
War I
began.
SERVICE: Palmer served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in World War
I from
1917 to 1919. He met Minnie Headley at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where
she was
stationed as an Army nurse.
DEATH: Palmer's death certificate obtained from Oklahoma Vital
Records gives
date of death, birth, parents and is in possession of daughter,
Patricia.
Palmer attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and in
1912, he
received a local preacher's license from the Georgetown District of
the
Central Texas Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
