Route to Texas: From Alexandria, LA. in later half of 1824, over land
to the Neches where they stayed for a 1/2 year, had crop failure,
then in Dec. 1825
moved to San Felipe de Austin & lived there til 1828, then to their
plantation
"Evergreen" in present Brazoria County.
Accompanying him to Texas besided his family: Jane (Wilkinson) Long,
sister of Mrs. Calvit; Ann Herbert Long, oldest daughter of Mrs. Long;
Kian, Negro maid and companion of Mrs. Long.
